Information related to each phase will be available here. Please note that the phases overlap.
Phase 1. Update the Watershed’s Model. The Watershed’s existing watershed model will be updated and model scenarios will be created for 2, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 500-year rain events.
Phase 2. Flood Damage Reduction Planning. Historic information will be reviewed, both structural and non-structural flood damage reduction mechanisms will be explored and evaluated.
Phase 3. Community Plan (ongoing). A Technical Advisory Committee consisting of key staff from Prior Lake-Spring Lake Watershed District, City of Prior Lake and Spring Lake Township will steer the project. Advisory Group meetings will be held to solicit feedback and ideas from organized groups, such as the District’s Citizen Advisory Committee, the City’s Lakes Advisory Committee, lake associations and elected and appointed officials. Community meetings will update and engage the public at critical phases during the Study.
Phase 4. Implementation Plan. Recommendations will be made regarding structural and non-structural flood damage reduction mechanisms. Project leads, project partners and potential funding sources and grant opportunities will be identified.
