Watzl’s Beach is currently CLOSED for swimming.
Watzl’s Beach was immediately closed on August 31 when the City of Prior Lake received test results from two August 30 samples exceeding 1,260 MPN/100 ml. The City typically tests beaches for E. coli only between Memorial Day and Labor Day, but further testing will be conducted at Watzl’s Beach until levels are safe. If the additional test results indicate a low level of E. coli in the water, Watzl’s Beach may be reopened after September 7. If test results indicate that high levels of E. coli are still present at the beach, the beach will remain closed until subsequent tests show acceptable levels.
Sand Point Beach has had acceptable E. coli levels all summer, including this week. Sand Point Beach is currently OPEN for swimming.
Please visit the City of Prior Lake’s website for more information.
Note: The City of Prior Lake is the entity responsible for testing at public beaches.
