The Prior Lake-Spring Lake Watershed District (PLSLWD) covers about 42 square miles in Scott
County, Minnesota, mainly in the City of Prior Lake and Spring Lake Township. The District also covers portions
of Sand Creek Township and the cities of Shakopee and Savage.
The purpose of the District is to conserve, protect
and manage the water resources in the watershed - including 14 lakes and the seven-mile long Prior Lake Outlet
Channel.
What is a Watershed, Anyway?
A watershed is all of the land area that drains to a particular water resource, such as a
lake or stream. Watershed districts are local units of government whose boundaries generally follow a natural
watershed. Districts are focused on conservation, protection and management of water resources within their designated
boundaries.
Prior Lake-Spring Lake Watershed District - Position Available
The Prior Lake-Spring Lake Watershed District has an immediate opening for an Administrative Assistant. This
is a 75% time position with 75% benefits. The position is responsible for a variety of administrative support for the daily operations
of the Watershed District including assisting the Administrator with the budget, preparation of monthly board meeting material,
payroll, internal and external correspondence, tracking and coding of invoices, and other assigned projects. Minimum Requirements:
Graduate from Certificate Program as an Administrative Assistant or equivalent related program or technical college; plus three to
five years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of basic accounting principles; adeptness
in written and oral communication, proficient knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and QuickBooks are a must.
Minimum typing speed of 45 words per minute expected. Hourly rate for 2008 is $16.27 - $18.23 depending upon qualifications and
